2024 Rookie League
January 10, 2024
We are excited to announce that for the 2024 baseball season, the Mukwonago Tribe has partnered with the Town of Mukwonago to offer an enhanced experience for our Rookie level age group. The program will be sponsored by the Mukwonago Tribe and will be offered through the Town of Mukwonago Parks and Recreations Department as “Co-Ed Little League”. The Tribe remains committed to supporting and strengthening our amazing community and as such the importance to work in union with our community partners for “One Mukwonago”. Our goal is a community based, developmental system that provides a path to Mukwonago Tribe U8 Baseball for both players and coaches. Working with the Town of Mukwonago, we will be able to provide a potential path to Mukwonago Tribe for additional community youth.
This partnership will allow our developing players to participate in a weekly multi-game schedule, for a shortened duration of time, over a longer season. The previous 8-game Rookie Tribe season provided weather related challenges, whereas we missed vital playing time due to rainouts and the 2-hour time was too much summer sun for our younger players. It is our goal to give the kids the best experience possible and develop their love of the game. Additionally, the Mukwonago Tribe coaches will host coaching clinics for the Little League coaches and players. This will provide coaches with the fundamental skills to develop the athletes throughout the season, as did the Rookie League.
For those athletes and families that aren’t quite ready for a U8 Tribe commitment, the Town of Mukwonago Parks and Recreations Dept will offer a 3 rd /4 th grade County Youth Rec League (CYRL) opportunity. This league will provide a path for players to continue their progression and baseball experience at a recreational level. In the event a player or family is interested in making the move to Tribe baseball after the U8 season, we will work with the Park and Rec Dept to fill open spots on current Tribe teams with those interested. The Tribe will also continue a sponsored partnership with the Mukwonago CYRL baseball teams to ensure coaching strategies are similar to Tribe’s and players have continued development.
There will also be a Mid-Summer Classic skills competition that will be held at the Mukwonago High School for the Co-Ed Little League and CYRL Baseball players. The skills competition will include a home run derby, base running relay race, and throwing relay race. The Mukwonago Tribe will be at the event to help players, run drills, and provide positive experiences.
